MonkeyBeat 48: Napping Time

This show starts with a POP from The Dollyrots' new disc, then we move on to more of a country vibe which cause me to go off on a tangent about why I want to do major harm to that lying cocksucker benny hinn. I try to calm down by breaking out some classic garage rock seven inchers from the mid-90's, including the new single by The Mummies. To keep thing going in a positive path I fire up a set of tracks featuring the genius of Keith Streng, away from his usual band The Fleshtones. Finally the cherry is placed on top of the whole thing by playing quite possibly the rarest of all Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet songs.

Songs played:
  1. The Dollyrots - My Heart Explodes
  2. Dash Rip Rock - Party 101
  3. I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House - Westboro Baptist Church
  4. Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper - This Land Is Your Land
  5. Francine - Trouble
  6. The Swingin' Neckbreakers - Diggin' A Grave
  7. The 1,4,5's - Unstoppable
  8. The Brentwoods - One Banana Two Banana (Do The Monkey)
  9. The Invisible Men - This Town
  10. The Mummies - Just One More Dance
  11. The Master Plan - Doin' It Right
  12. Action Dogs - Can't Get Through To You
  13. Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation - Chained To My Heart
  14. Wild Hyenas - I Go Wild
  15. Full Time Men - Way Down South
  16. Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet - Reid Does Neil

The Nomads - Virus 1999

I've always been shocked that The Nomads aren't one of the biggest bands in the world. They surely have the songs & the performing chops, to stand along side any platinum selling arena rockers going in the last 30 years. They even had a ton of support from the music establishment, with folks like Peter Case, Jeffery Lee Peirce & Scott McCaughey all penning tunes for them. They also had guests like Johnny Thunders, Joey Ramone & Handsome Dick Manitoba appear on their records. Yet they remain mostly a band know to only the most die hard rock fans, outside of their home of Sweden. In a perfect world, the two songs in this clip would be million selling hits, but instead we live in a world rules by morons who would rather listen to music resembling an off balanced washing machine.
The first song "I've Seen Better" comes from their "Big Sound 2000" album, while the second song "(I'm) Out Of It" (co-written by McCaughey) is from quite possibly their best album "Powerstrip".

Little know fact: The Art Production on their 1996 EP "The Cold Hard Facts of Life" was done by (a then unknown) Neko Case!

MonkeyBeat 47: My Elephant Lamp

I think the heat melted my mind while recording this one. I start out pretty much sharp and on top of announcing the music being played. However, about 45 minutes into it I seem to mess up even the simplest of band names and song titles. Make sure you follow what is printed below, not your brain dead announcer, on this one.
All an all the music on here makes a great soundtrack to a hot summer day.

Songs played:
  1. The Wildhearts - Zeen Requiem
  2. Jim Jones Revue - High Horse
  3. Gunsmoke - Nothing Left To Say
  4. Richmond Fontaine - The Gits

  6. The Makers - She's Going Under
  7. Question Mark & The Mysterians - Don't Give It Up Now
  8. The Monks - Monk Time (Live in Berlin 2006)
  9. The Hard-Ons - Pretend It's Vanilla
  10. Visqueen - Lovely Guilty
  11. Ken Stringfellow & The Disciplines - No Vacancy
